Architectural question: How does an enterprise operationalise Enterprise Participation without allowing arbitrary enterprise content to participate in Enterprise Intelligence?
Executive summary
Enterprise Participation is constitutional.
Enterprise Product Publication Pattern explains how participation is operationalised.
Enterprise Registry Pattern explains how published capabilities are discovered.
This pattern defines the implementation approach for taking accepted enterprise representations and governed enterprise capabilities through publication assessment, interface definition, lifecycle assignment, semantic definition, governance binding, approval, evidence capture, withdrawal control and registry advertisement.
Publication is the implementation mechanism for Enterprise Participation.
Enterprise Participation establishes standing.
Enterprise Product Publication operationalises standing.
The Registry advertises standing.

Purpose
The Enterprise Product Publication Pattern describes how Enterprise Participation is operationalised.
It establishes the implementation responsibilities required to turn accepted enterprise representations and governed enterprise capabilities into Published Enterprise Products.
Publication is not the source of authority.
Publication records and operationalises the conditions under which an already authoritative representation or governed capability may participate in Enterprise Intelligence.
Implementation responsibilities
The Enterprise Product Publication Pattern should establish:
- publication workflow
- publication lifecycle
- publication governance
- publication approval
- publication withdrawal
- publication metadata
- publication interfaces
- publication quality
- publication evidence
- publication candidate identification
- authority source confirmation
- ownership and accountability
- semantic definition
- product or service interface
- lifecycle state
- permitted-use constraints
- classification
- registry advertisement
- withdrawal conditions
Publication workflow
A conforming publication workflow should:
- Identify a candidate enterprise representation or capability.
- Confirm the authority source.
- Confirm ownership and accountability.
- Define the semantic scope.
- Define the interface.
- Establish quality expectations.
- Define lifecycle state.
- Bind governance and permitted-use constraints.
- Capture publication evidence.
- Approve or refuse publication standing.
- Advertise the Published Enterprise Product through the Enterprise Registry.
Publication lifecycle
Publication lifecycle states should distinguish:
- candidate
- under review
- published
- conditional
- suspended
- withdrawn
- retired
Lifecycle state does not alter the underlying authority of the enterprise representation.
It controls whether the product may participate in Enterprise Intelligence.
Publication governance
Publication governance should ensure that:
- authority is visible;
- ownership remains accountable;
- semantic definition is explicit;
- interface contracts are stable;
- quality expectations are declared;
- permitted use is recorded;
- lifecycle state is managed;
- evidence is captured; and
- withdrawal can occur when participation is no longer valid.
Publication approval
Publication approval grants participation standing.
It does not create authority.
Approval should confirm that the representation or capability has an authority source, an accountable owner, a declared scope, semantic definition, interface, lifecycle, governance obligations and quality expectations.
Publication withdrawal
Publication Withdrawal is the governed removal, suspension or retirement of participation standing for a Published Enterprise Product.
Withdrawal does not delete the underlying enterprise asset.
Withdrawal prevents continued participation when authority, quality, lifecycle, semantic validity, interface stability, governance or permitted-use conditions no longer support participation.
Product and Service interfaces
Enterprise systems participate in Enterprise Intelligence only through governed Product or Service interfaces whose participation standing has been established through Enterprise Participation and operationalised through Enterprise Product Publication.
Connectors expose Published Enterprise Products.
They do not determine authority.
Product types
The pattern applies to:
- Data Products
- Knowledge Products
- Event Products
- Semantic Products
- Decision Products
- Service Products
Service Products include Identity Resolution, Authority Resolution, Semantic Resolution, Context Qualification, Execution Admissibility, Optimisation Services, Location Services and Business Calculation Services.
Relationship to Runtime Context Assembly
Runtime Context Assembly consumes Published Enterprise Products appropriate to the Operational Intent.
Accepted Enterprise Representations establish authority.
Published Enterprise Products establish participation.
Runtime Context Assembly determines operational relevance.
Relationship to Enterprise Participation Reference Architecture
Enterprise Participation depends upon intentionally published Enterprise Products.
Published Enterprise Products provide the governed participation surface through which Qualified Operational Understanding can be operationalised into participant-specific operational experiences.
Boundary statement
This page is an Enterprise Implementation Pattern.
It implements the constitutional function defined by Enterprise Participation.
It does not make publication the constitutional responsibility.
It does not create authority, replace Business Domain or Data Domain ownership, or determine runtime admissibility.
Human and organisational accountability remains with the institution applying the pattern.
